Ironmonger 2018

Only released in certain vintages, this is a classic Australian red blend.


It was the sale of the family Ironmonger business that brought the Kay family to Australia. Prudentially the Amery vineyard is also rich in ironstone deposits. Both provide inspiration for the "Ironmonger" name. This 'quintessential' Australian blend provides generous fruit, elegance, complexity and a long persistent finish. 

The third release of the"Ironmonger" is sourced from remarkably expressive parcels of Cabernet and Shiraz from the Amery vineyard. Only produced in exceptional years, the Ironmonger is traditionally processed in open top fermenters, basket pressed, then matured in a combination of French and American oak hogsheads. Each variety kept separate for 18 months at which point the wine was racked and blended before bottling.
